The boys daddy was a chemist and his momma played the guitar
The girls father was a drug dealer and her mom a stripper
The boys daddy played college football up in nyc
The girls daddy sold crack right across the street

The boys momma played back up for a host of stars
The girls momma danced on tables in a host of bars
The boys parent live together on a farm in the Midwest
The girls parents wouldn’t recognize each other ithey tried there best

The girl so smart the streets taught her well
The boys level of intelligence is nice as well
The girl put it in her heart that she’s going places
The boy got heart but he’s frustrated

The girl walked to school catching a bus a train another train and a bus
The boy got dropped off at school and skipped class because he was fed up
The girl can’t understand her work so she stayed afterschool for tutoring
The boy don’t understand what the teachers are tryin to do to him

The boy really just want to keep it real
put these math classes down and just go chill

The girl just wants a better life,
reads everything and works her math all night
The boy met a girl and she looks like her life is hard
The girl met a boy and he looks like he is living large

he told the girl all his problems
The girl knows away to help him solve them
The girl told the boy all she needs in this life of sin
“is me and my boyfriend”

While the boy tried to understand her rhythmic prose
She gave him the kind of kiss you get with both eyes closed
Far to young to feel this kind of sensation
The boy feel that much deeper into his frustration
The girl kept working her plan because of her situation

Told the boy just wait till graduation

The girls momma ain’t coming home no more
The girl pays her own rent don’t need nobody else no mo
The boy so sick and tired he’s at a loss for words
But for him to stop going to school would be absurd

The boys parents was sitting together on the third row
The boys parents got a child that they do not know
At the graduation they found out they got a grandchild
wait till he tell them what they don’t know

Not peddling his wares he is still aware that if he waits a minute and appears to still be here
If he talks for a minute and the people marvel and cheer
If he should be so moved that he rises out of his chair
And if the fire should strike off the chest hair
Then take the penned lyrics and lock them in a chest right here
Something restored something ignored something so that the ignorant never get bored
Two things to challenge all minds like a treasure hunter looking for gold that he never did mine
Its not a story don’t sit back nor recline
Don’t look for the clicker there is no channel to find this is the revolution it wont be televised
Really I hate to say that whoever said that almost lied cause when you got the internet influences lives
Then the revolution would be missed if it had been televised

Let the children no longer need game systems they found work arounds even when the parents prevent them
This is a new moment really a new day the kids work like spies the parents get taken away
Can’t really say what you want to say burn your tounge off if you get carried away
Which one is worst what would you say the nine year old who called the cops on his moms
Or the nine year old on youtube who threatened his mom
Kids on the internet admit all the crimes den they scream whoo haaa like busta rhymes
It seems like you might get carried away I say a kid post his home phone just the other day
And on facebook or should I say off some girl ran over another girl and hit two cops
I don’t think the virtual world is virtual
And who knew that a couple blog post could really hurt you
Personally I like Maino and all his music
But I think if I said the wrong thing the brother might just lose it
And I heard some girl said something about Rick Ross now that just crazy
I dance to Rick Ross like I’m back in the eighties
Oh well I guess she got confused cause when she seen him in person he wasn’t
So amused
Me personally I’m just treading water trying not to go off the deep in
Work a few hours and get some sleep in

When people support you they see your vision get behind and push you
Then you just walk away like the same people wont miss you
Those same people that show up with the mob and kiss you

How hard should we take the lack of leadership
How hard should we take the need for ownership

One to one there is no place for thee

Feeling oddly changed
Caught missed and lost in politics games
There is no need for a fraud to aim

About the boy up the street who had the funeral with his casket closed

I might just lose it
22 days I got no music
Stand on two feet but that’s just pausing
If you catch me in the street I will be walking

Ever been where I’m going

Meanwhile in Greece the panic is still growing

This is my light work and yet I’m still flowing
Its going to take more than a knights work to get this wheel rolling
So I’m still toiling put this pen to the midnight oil and
See if I can be forgiving for leaving my thoughts on paper when the most prolific poets make claims of abatemet
I mean not to make a belligerent statement but if they wont write why should I quote
And if I ain’t write ill just get my coat
Seeings how we got nothing to read at a poetry meeting
This might as well be an aa meeting
Not dissing aa meetings just that if I’m at a poetry reading where no one is reading
Then I’m going to have a few questions one or two suggestions ..I might want to teach a few lessons
But if no one listens or cares or cares to listen and take note
I might well turn right back around and get my coat.

Thoughts used to ebb in flow
Or stand in line
Waiting patiently
To escape my mind

Nowadays its not that way
Every minute of everyday
Seems so crowded
Jammed packed
Thoughts rush the gates
I can’t hold them back

My hand trembles over the keys
What must I say to fill the need
What must I do to cage this beast
Or should I just set it free

You can feel the tension
Read my angst
Now all I need is some space
A little time
Maybe vacation
Kick off my shoes
Sit on the couch wit the PlayStation
Eat some carbs
Drink a brew
Sleep for a week

What else to do
Go back home introduce my city
To this silk and purple man its pretty
Lose myself in an afternoon
Take a flight off to the moon
Give my kids a silver spoon
They so copper I don’t know what to do

new announcement

so on this blog as most of you know i am new at this and all only been doing it about 3 years now and i try to keep the talking to a minimum and keep the writing up on the creative side…anyway

from now on i will only publish every 7 weeks
of course i will still be writing
but you will only see my new material every 7 weeks
i hope this works out ok
my new book will be ready for publication early january 2012 so check for it
i haven’t chosen the publisher yet but when i know you will know
later dave

Stepped out on beach long before the waters edge
Somewhere on the sand the sun had formed a ledge
I wasn’t quite prepared for my feet to heat
It felt like I was walking on asphalt out on the street
The sole of my feet was hit
But the feeling liked to cooked my brain
I bet ill never look at the beach the same
